Home Mover Mortgages

Moving home is an exciting time. Whether you're upsizing, downsizing, or relocating, we'll find the right mortgage to suit your new circumstances and make the process as smooth as possible.

Moving to Your Next Home

Moving home is one of life's most significant events. Whether you're upsizing for a growing family, downsizing as the children leave home, or simply relocating for work or lifestyle reasons, getting the right mortgage is crucial.

As whole-of-market brokers, we search thousands of mortgage products to find the best deal for your circumstances. We'll consider whether it makes sense to port your existing mortgage to your new property or whether you'd be better off with a new deal entirely.

Should You Port Your Mortgage?

Many mortgages are portable, meaning you can transfer your existing deal to your new property. This can be beneficial if you're on a particularly competitive rate. However, it's not always the best option.

Porting may be right if:

  • You have a very competitive existing rate
  • Early repayment charges would be high
  • Your circumstances have changed (e.g. reduced income)
  • You're in a fixed rate with time remaining

A new mortgage may be better if:

  • Better rates are available in the market
  • You need to borrow significantly more
  • Your deal is ending soon anyway
  • You want different mortgage terms

We'll compare both options and give you clear, impartial advice on which is the better choice for your situation.

The Home Moving Process

1

Get a Decision in Principle

Before you start viewing properties, we'll get you a Decision in Principle (DIP) so you know exactly how much you can borrow and can make offers with confidence.

2

Find Your New Home

With your DIP in place, you can search for properties knowing your budget. When you find the right one, we'll move quickly to secure your mortgage.

3

Mortgage Application

We handle the full mortgage application on your behalf, liaising with the lender and keeping you updated throughout.

4

Valuation & Survey

The lender will arrange a valuation of the property. We'll advise you on whether a more detailed survey is recommended.

5

Exchange & Completion

Once your mortgage offer is issued, your solicitor will handle exchange of contracts and completion — the day you get the keys to your new home.
